It has now been just over a month since Liam Rosenior was appointed as the new manager of Chelsea Football Club, replacing Enzo Maresca, who had guided the Blues to Club World Cup glory just six months before his sacking. And it would be safe to say that the change was not met with overwhelming positivity.
Chelsea fans had never really had a close connection with Maresca, who had often felt like a distant character rather than someone looking to build a bond with the support. That being said, there was a clear respect for the Italian coach, having seen him win two trophies in his debut season and also securing a Champions League spot. His record against top-level opposition was pretty good as well, with wins over European and French champions, PSG, Spanish champions, Barcelona, and English champions, Liverpool, under his belt.
On the other hand, Roseniro did not come in with much high-level experience to speak of. He had been the interim manager of Derby County before being handed the permanent role at Hull City. That was followed by a positive stint at Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg, which was most probably the primary reason he was handed the job.
That being said, nobody can deny the results that he has produced in his first month as Chelsea boss. Yes, the performances have not always been pretty but the wins have come. And there is another aspect that the players seem to be liking about the new manager.
What Chelsea players think of Liam Rosenior behind the scenes
As reported byRahman Osman (via CFC Pys), the Chelsea players are liking the ‘human touch’ that Liam Rosenior has added since he became the new head coach.
It is hard to argue with that. Rosenior is certainly a very charismatic character in his own way, and refreshingly honest at the same time.
