Manchester United played out a well-fought 2-2 draw against Tottenham this weekend. The Red Devils were leading until the 84th minute, but they conceded two quick goals, and a defeat was looking increasingly likely before De Ligt snatched the equalizer in the last minute of added time.
Manchester United underwent a major shuffle in their attack during the summer transfer window. Their primary striker from last season, Rasmus Højlund, was sent on loan to Napoli. Meanwhile, in his place, Benjamin Šeško was brought in for the number nine role. However, the Slovak striker is still settling in at Old Trafford having scored just two goals in 11 appearances so far.
As a result, Manchester United could benefit from bringing in an experienced center-forward, especially one who is familiar with the Premier League. On that note, former Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane could potentially return to England, and United might be his next club, if reports are to be believed.
According to Goal, former Manchester United youth academy player and Premier League winner with Leicester, Simpson, was asked if Kane could end up at Manchester United to which he told Dream Vegas that:
“I don’t know where else he could go, if I’m honest. He can’t go to City. He can’t go to Arsenal. I can’t see him turning Manchester United down.
“He can come back, and get the goals record. I’d love to see it. I said it when he was leaving Tottenham, I’d love to see him at Manchester United. It’s a good fit. If that’s an option I’d 100% go for it.
“He could help Sesko as well. Sesko would understand not playing every game, learning under Harry Kane, and not having that pressure.”
Manchester United could bring former Tottenham superstar back to Premier League
Kane moved to Bayern Munich in 2023 after a long, illustrious career with Tottenham Hotspur, where he played 435 matches and scored 280 goals in all competitions for the club.
This season, the English striker is making headlines regularly with his goal-scoring form having already found the back of the net 23 times in 17 appearances for the German giants.
Bayern Munich will reportedly be ready to open talks if an offer of £57 million is tabled for the player, which shouldn’t be an issue for Manchester United, especially given the quality Kane would bring to Old Trafford.
That said, the 32-year-old has quickly become a fan favorite among Bayern supporters and may choose to extend his stay at the club that gave him his first major trophy. Anyway, let’s wait and see what the future holds.
