Chelsea secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Wolves on Saturday, rising to second place in the Premier League table. This is despite missing a number of key players who are sidelined due to injuries.

The recent summer signings are steadily settling in, and a number of them have made an immediate impact, including João Pedro and Estêvão. On the other hand, individuals like Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho are yet to reach their true potential.

Nevertheless, Chelsea are always looking to improve their squad, and the next transfer windows will be no different. Meanwhile, worrying reports have emerged stating that the club could also lose one of their star players in the next summer window. In fact, it is being suggested that Atlético Madrid have identified Chelsea’s left-back Marc Cucurella as a key target.

As reported by Fichajes, Marc Cucurella has been valued at around €40 million, a fee that seems reasonable for Atlético Madrid, who are comfortable waiting until the summer of 2026 to finalize the deal for the player.

Atletico Madrid want to sign Chelsea superstar in summer

Given Simeone’s iconic 4-4-2 formation, the Spaniard would be a perfect fit for Atlético Madrid’s future ambitions. However, the 27-year-old left-back, who has made 128 appearances in the Royal Blue shirt, has become one of the key players in Maresca’s system. Parting ways with him could further destabilize the defence, a position that has already faced inconsistency over the last few years.

Cucurella has been an integral part of Chelsea’s recent achievements across all competitions and letting him go for €40 million would be a major mistake, especially with Jorrel Hato yet to be tested, as he is the only other natural left-back option besides the Spaniard.

Moreover at just 27 years old, Cucurella still has a few good years left in his boots. So it’s hard to see Chelsea partying ways with him just yet.
