Following a positive start to their season, Tottenham Hotspur have recently faced some hurdles. In their latest Premier League matchup Spurs lost 2-1 to Aston Villa and slipped down to sixth position. The club have managed to pick up just two wins in their last five Premier League matches.
Nevertheless, Tottenham are set to resume their Champions League campaign when they face Monaco next. But it looks like the club might be without some of their star players for the matchup, if reports are to be believed. And worse, one of them is a starter at the club.
According to Football London, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies did not take part in Spurs training ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash with Monaco. On being asked if Romero could be fit in time to face Monaco, Tottenham’s new manager Frank Thomas said:
“I don’t know. He could be, he couldn’t. I just don’t know. Right now, if I’m honest, I had one focus. I went into the changing room and then I spoke to the players and then I prepared a little bit for Anthony for the questions they’re going to have. And then I worry about the players tomorrow.”
Tottenham could miss key players for Champions League matchup against Monaco
Tottenham already have a significant number of players out on the sidelines due to injury, including Radu Dragusin, James Maddison, Yves Bissouma, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke. This new development will surely come as another major setback to the club, who are going through a rough patch lately.
In addition to this, Tottenham will also miss out on Mathys Tel and Kota Takai, as both individuals aren’t registered in the squad for the group stage of the Champions League.
The matchup against Monaco will be a promising opportunity for Spurs to bounce back to winning ways. That said, it won’t be an easy task to pull off by any means. Let’s wait and watch how the London side perform against the French giants when they meet on Wednesday.
