The upcoming winter transfer window for Chelsea is becoming increasingly crucial after a few key players were sidelined at the beginning of the season. Although there’s a good amount of time left before the window reopens in January, it will be interesting to see what exciting moves the fans will witness.

Despite the Blues having a very busy summer transfer window, Enzo Maresca has not been able to fully integrate the new signings in the team and the result is showing on the Premier League table. The club has been missing their key starter, Cole Palmer, due to his ACL injury, and are trying every possible option to restore their attacking prowess and productivity in front of goal.

Chelsea did miss out on a few of their targeted players in the summer which might be hurting them now. Aston Villa player Morgan Rogers was among them. And it looks like the Blues are still interested in the player if reports are to be believed.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are currently seen as the frontrunners in the race to sign Rogers. The London club have identified him as a key target in their 2026 squad planning, aiming to reinforce their attacking midfield options.

The name of Rogers had previously surfaced in the summer alongside Alexander Isak, but Chelsea ultimately missed out due to his high release clause of £80 million, which would have been too expensive during an already busy window.

The 23-year-old reportedly still has a similar release clause set, as he is not an easy talent for Aston Villa to let go of. Though the price seems significant, it could be crucial for the Blues at this stage to strengthen their midfield. With only a few options remaining after Enzo Fernández and Dário Essugo also out with injury as of now, the addition of a quality midfielder is of utmost necessity.

Apart from the Blues, the English international remains on the radar of major European clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, which could potentially drive up his price tag in the coming days. So it won’t be an easy task to pull off for the Blues despite being the front-runners.
