Despite having a fantastic transfer window, Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso didn’t had the luxury of having the full squad at his helm since the start of the season as players like Jude Bellingham, Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba and Eduardo Camavinga were out with injuries.
As the season progresses the players are slowly moving towards full fitness as we saw Bellingham and Camavinga getting into the starting 11 during the past few games while Alaba started against Kazakh side FC Kairat and Rudiger is expected to return in early November.
The good times for Real Madrid fans doesn’t really stop here as another Los Blancos player, Ferland Mendy was seen training in Real Madrid city according to MARCA ( Via: Football Espana) and the left back could be back in action before the end of this season.
Real Madrid handed major injury boost ahead of Getafe clash
Mendy had to be taken off during the early minutes of the Copa Del Rey final against Barcelona in April this year which Los Blancos lost 2-3 by a Joules Kounde winner in the dying minutes of the game.
The 30-year-old was seen as Madrid’s first choice left back for the past few seasons but with the arrival of Alvaro Carreras during the summer transfer window, Mendy has fallen third in the pecking order as academy graduate Fran Garcia made full use of the minutes in which he was called in action this season.
The Frenchman is known for his solid displays in defence but his lack of attacking prowess could be a deciding factor in his selection under Alonso. Although the Real Madrid manager is also known for his use of three central defenders alongside two attacking full backs which again could see Mendy getting in the squad while playing as a left sided central defender.
With Alonso inclined towards younger players this could well be Mendy’s last season with Los Blancos but as of now nothing is decided with the full back yet although with Alonso’s rotations we might see the Frenchman in action quite a few times this season even if he is to leave the club after this season.
