Manchester United has a mixed start to this 2025-26 Premier League season, with some players excelling and others struggling to find their footing. They currently sit 10th in the table with 10 points from seven matches, having won three, drawn one and lost three.

The home form has been relatively strong, with nine points from four matches, including a 2-1 victory over Chelsea. However their away performance is where the team has performed poorly, with only one point from three matches.

In terms of goal scoring, The Red Devils have scored nine goals in seven matches, with Bruno Fernandes leading the way with two goals. Meanwhile they have also conceded 11 goals, with a defensive record that has been a concern.

Manchester United‘s midfield has been often criticised for lacking pace, with having a combined passing accuracy of 84% and only 59 chance created, which has made it difficult for the team to press high and win the ball back quickly. They have won 36 tackles in the league this season forcing manager Ruben Amorim to acknowledge this weakness.

In an attempt to fix the problems in these areas United are reportedly interested in signing a 17 year old senegalese midfield. That is according to Fabrizio Romano who posted on X stating that Senegalese talent Mouhamed Dabo (17) has been on trial at Manchester United with very positive impact. Nothing completed at this stage in terms of transfer due to regulations and relationship with his current club and formal steps are yet to be activated.

Dabo, who captains Senegal’ u-17 side, has been making waves in African football with his exceptional skills. He combines tactical intelligence, fine technique and physical impact, which makes him a modern day midfielder.

United has already signed a 17 year old Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco, who will join the club in summer 2026. If they can manage to bring in Dabo as well the club’c midfield could be set for the foreseeable future.

The Red Devils have been for their midfield struggles in recent seasons, but with young talents like Dabo and Orozco coming through, they may be able to address these issues and become more competitive in the long term.
