Since the start of the season, Chelsea have been facing a plethora of injuries that have triggered instability and strategic imbalance in their playing style for quite some time. Moreover, coupled with the lack of technical alternatives, this situation has put Enzo Maresca under immense hardship to regain tactical dominance on the pitch.

As the Blues continue to lose crucial points in the league table, resolving this issue early would be vital for climbing back to the top of the Premier League table. Across all positions, the Blues have faced major disruptions, particularly in the defensive part of things followed by the midfield, where three key players have been sidelined due to injuries for most of the matches.

Meanwhile, the recent international break has given the Blues a glimmer of hope, as some injured players are nearing recovery and preparing for a strong comeback. Notably, Josh Acheampong has already recovered and joined his international duties.

Moving forward, Chelsea are now in search of a young, defensive midfielder to strengthen their defensive depth. According to reports from Fichajes, Chelsea along with Arsenal are in the race to sign Marc Casado from Barcelona in the upcoming transfer window.

The 22-year-old Barcelona prodigy has made his way up from the youth team and established a substantial presence with 48 appearances for the senior squad last season. Adding this Spanish talent could provide Chelsea with an important alternative to bolster the team.

With the Blues focusing on building a squad centered around young talents, signing a player like Casado who has already proven his ability with the Spanish giants could be a smart move.

It remains to be seen to what extent Chelsea engage themselves in pursuing the €30 million-rated Barca prodigy, and whether the midfielder will consider parting ways with the Spanish club, where he has recently become one of the key figures in their squad.
