Manchester City have continued their winning form in the Premier League and are steadily climbing the table, currently sitting in fifth position.
Despite losing some key players in the summer transfer window, including Kevin De Bruyne, the Citizens have managed to limit the impact of the Belgian’s absence so far.
Manchester City have brought in Tijjani Reijnders for the position, and the player has started off on the right footing at the Etihad. That said, the Citizens still need more depth in the middle of the park, especially with Rodri suffering from frequent injuries every now and then. Mateo Kovacic has also spent time on the sidelines recently. So, the need for reinforcements in that area cannot be overstated.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged suggesting that the club might already be tracking a Real Madrid player for the role and could move for him in January.
According to a report from a Fichajes (via Sports Mole), Manchester City are eyeing up a swoop for Eduardo Camavinga in the winter transfer window.
Manchester City considering shock January move for Real Madrid player
Camavinga, who was considered one of the brightest prospects a few years back, has recently seen his role limited at Real Madrid. His injury troubles haven’t helped his case either.
However, there’s no denying the talent the French international possesses. Moreover, Camavinga can operate in multiple positions, which include his primary central midfield role, as well as defensive midfield and left-back. This could give Pep Guardiola flexibility when making tactical decisions if the player joins City.
Camavinga is currently just 22 years old and could develop into one of the best in his position under the right guidance and with regular playing time. Although the second cannot be guaranteed at Manchester City, the first is a given.
Nevertheless, even if Manchester City manage to reach an agreement with Real Madrid for the player in the future, it won’t come at a cheap price, as Camavinga has a long-term contract with the Spanish giants until 2029. Let’s see how this news develops come January.
