Manchester City picked out a 1-0 win against Brentford to move to fifth position in the Premier League table. Fans will be happy to see the team slowly gaining momentum.
Manchester City lost two notable names in the summer transfer window in the form of Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker. While Man City have brought in reinforcement for the midfield position, they are yet to bring in a new right-back.
Instead, the Citizens are currently relying on youth player Rico Lewis and Matheus Nunes. Although both these players have been performing well, the club will need a new reliable right-back for the long-term future. And it looks like they have already identified a potential candidate for the job.
According to TeamTalk, Manchester City are monitoring the situation of Atletico Madrid right-back Nahuel Molina. The club are expected to look seriously at the right-back position when the market opens in January, and the Argentine ticks many of the boxes they want to fill.
Manchester City interested in 2022 World Cup winner
Molina joined the Spanish giants in 2022 for a fee of €20 million. The player has failed to break into the first team of Diego Simeone’s squad despite being part of team for over two years.
Although Molina has appeared in six matches this season for Atletico Madrid, most of them came off the bench. The fullback has played a total of just 144 minutes so far this campaign.
Molina’s contract with the club ends in 2027, so Manchester City have reasons to believe that the player might be available for a bargain price in the upcoming windows if Atletico fail to secure an extension with the player.
Apart from Molina, Manchester City have also been linked with a move for Newcastle United right-back Tino Livramento who is also a solid option. Nevertheless, the transfer window is still far away, and these are just speculations at this point. It remains to be seen if any of these are true in the future.
