Liverpool FC has started the season strongly and is looking to defend the Premier League title. They have managed to stay at the top of the table so far, with five straight wins. However, winning the UEFA Champions League trophy remains another one of the club’s priorities in this campaign.

The Reds brought in a number of attacking reinforcements during the summer window, which have so far added some more firepower to Arne Slot’s gameplay. With several strong options in the forward line, the team can rotate players alongside Mohamed Salah to increase their chances of success, especially in the Champions League—a title they last won six years ago under Jürgen Klopp in 2019.

While rotation of squad and syncing the new arrivals with Liverpool’s long-term goals could work wonders but it also makes managers job all the more challenging. Allowing these players opportunities through substitute appearances will let them showcase their skills gradually as they ease into the system.

Infact Chiesa is one player who has been performing incredibly recently but has been left out of the league stage squad for Liverpool of the Champions League Campaign which might have come as a surprise to many.

Meanwhile, the Italian winger, has now revealed his true feelings following this recent decision by Liverpool.

As reported by The Guardian, Chiesa said:

“I can play more in this competition, but I want to show the manager I can play more in the Premier League. The coach gave me chances in the first four games and I think I showed I can help the team. I’m not in the Champions League squad, but I am focused on the Carabao Cup.

He told me what he was thinking, why he chose to do what he did. I was sorry not to be part of the Champions League squad, as playing in it is every player’s dream. I just said to the coach, ‘OK—no problem. I will keep working hard and I will get my chances in the Carabao Cup and the Premier League.’ I am a professional player, I play for Liverpool and that itself is amazing.”

Federico Chiesa admits disappointment with Liverpool’s decision

The Italian international has already made his mark this season, recording four Premier League appearances and scoring once against Bournemouth. His creativity and attacking threat have troubled defenders, and his presence is gaining more prominence with every game.

If Liverpool can continue to make use of his talent, Chiesa could prove a nightmare for rival defences in the future under Slot’s guidance. There is still a chance for the 27-year-old to get included in Liverpool’s Champions League squad if Giovanni Leoni who suffered an injury on his debut is sidelined for an elongated period.

Nevertheless, many challenges remain before Chiesa secures a regular place in the squad as a right winger, especially with Mohamed Salah in such good form. That said, Chiesa has his own set of skills, and the manager is well aware of that. Let’s wait and see if the Italian manages to rise to the opportunities that come his way and find a greater role under Slot.
