Manchester City played out a 1-1 draw against Arsenal in their latest Premier League match. While it isn’t a bad result per se, given Arsenal’s recent record against the club, it’s always expected from Pep Guardiola’s men to secure all three points every time they step onto the field.
Man City spent extensively in the summer, bringing in players like Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Gianluigi Donnarumma, among others. The transfer window officially closed on September 1st. Meanwhile, it’s not even a month since then, and now reports have emerged suggesting that the club are already eyeing their next target for the future.
Journalist Alan Nixon (via Manchester City News) has reported on Patreon that Manchester City are keen on signing Bayern Munich star Michael Olise. Additionally, they are not the only Premier League club in the race either, as Liverpool are also interested in securing the Frenchman’s services.
Manchester City interested in Bayern Munich youngster
Olise moved to Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024. The youngster has been on an upward trajectory ever since. In the last campaign, he scored 20 goals and provided 23 assists, while this season he has already contributed four goals and three assists.
Interestingly, Olise spent some time at the Manchester City academy between 2016 and 2017 but left the club to join Reading. The 23-year-old’s break through came at Crystal Palace where performed impressively.
Nevertheless, if City can manage to bring the player back to Manchester, it would be a major boost to the team. That said, it will be a difficult transfer to pull off, as the French international reportedly dreams of playing for Real Madrid and is said to be done with the Premier League.
Keeping that in mind, it’s also true that City have pulled off far more complicated moves over the years, so there’s hope that Manchester City and Olise will cross paths once again in the future.
