Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been the talk of the town over the past few weeks. He has been on the scoresheet regularly for both his club and country lately. While on international duty, the Norwegian recently scored a hat-trick to help his country qualify for the World Cup.

Apart from being on the news for his on-field performances, the player has also been involved in an off-field rumour linking him with Real Madrid. Reports even claim that Los Blancos have held talks with Haaland’s representatives to test the water. This is surely not something any Manchester City fan would love to hear.

Meanwhile Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson has recently spoken to Football Insider about Haaland’s long term future at the club. Borson said:

“First of all, nothing’s impossible. But I think as we understand it, some of the exit clauses and release clauses that were in the original contracts have been taken out in the renewal.”

Although Haaland is under contract until 2034, Real Madrid should never be taken lightly, especially considering how they handled their recent transfer business, signing stars like Kylian Mbappe, Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Alvaro Carreras.

The news about Haaland comes at a time when Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior is facing criticism for not performing at the highest level. Rumours linking the winger with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu are also making the rounds.

Real Madrid could use the funds from a potential sale of the Brazilian to finance a move for Haaland, with several Saudi clubs reportedly preparing massive offers for Vinicius.

That said, everything depends on whether Haaland decides to leave the Etihad or not. Manchester City have made it clear they do not want to lose the Norwegian striker and see him as a key part of their long-term plans. But as earlier mentioned in modern football nothing is impossible.
