What could be more blissful for Chelsea fans if the club had been able to make a top signing in the recent winter transfer window? The Blues had been linked with many options, as they had shown their eagerness in acquiring a defender along with midfield reinforcements, but neither need was met.
The Blues have been struggling from the very beginning of the season, largely due to a persistent injury crisis involving a few key players as well as a general lack of quality despite having spent north of a billion in assembling this squad. Hence, it had sounded like a promising strategy to make a few signings in the winter. Unfortunately, that led nowhere.
However, after the arrival of Liam Rosenior, the London club has finally gained some momentum. Their only losses have come at the hands of Arsenal.
Rosenior seems to be planning to build his team surrounding their key midfielders, with Enzo Fernandez being one of the central figures. Worryingly, he is one of the players to be constantly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea Player Already Attracts Summer Interest from Real Madrid and PSG
As reported by CaughtOffside, One of those monitoring Fernandez closely is Real Madrid. He is seen as a replacement, if Jude Bellingham leaves. On the other hand, PSG view the Argentine as a flagship signing who could anchor their next cycle. Chelsea’s financial obligations mean tough decisions may loom and if the club opt to part ways, a fee in the region of €100-110 million would be required.
The Argentine midfielder has grown immensely since his arrival from SL Benfica in the winter window of 2023. Meanwhile, he has already been able to contribute 11 goals and 4 assists in 35 appearances this season, which justifies why he is being eyed by top clubs in Europe.
Would parting ways with the star player in the summer be a wise move? It would not be if you ask us. But then again, nothing would surprise us about Chelsea these days.
