Manchester City were handed a shock loss by Aston Villa in their latest Premier League outing. This kind of performance proves once again that the team is yet to find its balance fully this season. The club has now slipped down to fifth place, even behind Sunderland.
Anyway, what’s done is done and Manchester City will have to focus ahead. Meanwhile, it is increasingly evident that a number of positions could do with some reinforcements, especially on the wings. On that front, there seems to be some positive news as it looks like Manchester City could land one of their targets in the near future if reports are to be believed.
According to TBR Football, Manchester City are currently leading the race among Premier League rivals to sign Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga.
Manchester City hold upper hand in race to sign 16 y/o wonderkid
Manchester City have been keeping track of the youngster quite some time now, and were even close to signing him last summer, but the 16-year-old decided to sign with Leicester instead to get more game time.
Monga has already established himself as a key part of the Foxes squad and has featured in 12 matches this season, scoring one goal and providing as many assists.
While Monga’s primary position is on the left currently, he could also operate down the opposite flank and in the attacking midfield role just as well. At just 16-years-old the player could become one of the best in his position and joining a club like City will surely help in the process.
Nevertheless, securing the player won’t be easy despite Man City seemingly leading the race, as clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Newcastle United are also interested in the player.
Manchester City are currently relying on Jeremy Doku and Savinho for the left-wing position. Additionally, Jack Grealish, who is currently on loan to Everton, is still under contract with the Citizens but expected to leave in the near future. So Monga could be an ideal option for the club to sign and ticks all the right boxes.
