Manchester City picked up a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Everton on Saturday to climb to second place in the Premier League table for now. Haaland scored both the goals in the matchup to further improve his goal tally this season.
Meanwhile, in the background of it all, the club management is busy making sure Pep Guardiola gets all the weapons needed to bring as much silverware as possible moving forward. In fact, the next transfer window is still a few months away, but Manchester City are already keeping tabs on possible signings for 2026. And there has been a major development regarding one of them.
The player in question is Argentine wonderkid Ian Subiabre. TBR Football chief Graeme Bailey recently provided an update on the youngster’s move to Europe, and said:
“Speaking to scouts and clubs, the belief is now that we see Subiabre move in 2026. It is likely in the summer, but don’t be surprised if someone gets a deal done in January.”
Manchester City eyeing Argentine wonderkid who’s keen on Europe move
Manchester City’s interest in Subiabre is nothing new, and the club are said to have even discussed the player with River Plate when they brought Claudio Echeverri in 2024.
At just 18 years of age, Subiabre is already making some admirers with his performances. As a result, apart from Manchester City, the youngster has other suitors as well, including Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Monaco, RB Leipzig. Additionally, Premier League teams like Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Fulham, Brighton, and Crystal Palace.
Manchester City have already brought two players from River Plate in recent years — Julian Alvarez and Echeverri. So club-to-club agreement for the player shouldn’t be an issue for Manchester City if they decide to indeed pursue Subiabre. That said, the interest from other major clubs could result in a tug-of-war situation for the Argentine’s signature.
