Manchester City are back to their best judging by their recent performances both domestically and in the Champions League. Haaland has been consistently finding the back of the net in every match, and the Citizens are easing their way to victory.
It’s fair to say that Manchester City have managed to limit the impact of losing one of their most iconic players, as Kevin De Bruyne left to join Napoli this summer. However, there are still question marks about whether they can continue to maintain this performance in the long run.
Some might argue that the Citizens have done their bit by already securing the signing of Tijjani Reijnders, which is true, but that’s hardly enough. In fact, Bernardo Silva is also on the cusp of leaving the Etihad in the near future, and Rodri is yet to regain his pre-injury form. As a result, bringing in reinforcements in the middle of the park will become a necessity for the club.
On that note, it looks like Manchester City have set their sights on a Real Madrid midfielder. According to Fichajes (via TeamTalk), Man City have ‘initiated talks’ with Madrid and are ‘confident’ about striking an agreement for Arda Guler, who is seen as a ‘priority target’. This is despite the fact that Madrid are determined to keep the player, whom they view as a crucial asset for the present and future.
Manchester City confident of signing Real Madrid midfield sensation
Guler has emerged as a pivotal part of Real Madrid’s midfield ever since Xabi Alonso took over as their new manager. The Turkish youngster has already registered three goals and five assists this season in twelve appearances.
Guler possesses sharp passing skills along with fast dribbling ability. He has certainly caught some eyes with his link-up play and decision-making in this campaign. If Los Blancos were to part ways with the player, they would surely demand a premium.
Anyway, there’s little doubt that the 20-year-old can be a great addition to Pep Guardiola’s system. That said, although the prospect of Guler joining Manchester City to try out his talent in the Premier League isn’t impossible, it is surely a far-fetched one. So this news should be taken with a bit of salt as of now.
