Liverpool spent lavishly in the summer transfer window, bringing in the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz among others. However, that has not reflected in their overall performance so far this season.

On the contrary, the 2024–25 Premier League champions have looked wayward and failed to maintain consistency, resulting in them sliding down to sixth position. As a result, the Reds’ management might have to spend big once again in the coming summer to address the situation.

On that note, it looks like Liverpool have already shortlisted a youngster as a potential upgrade to their squad for next season and are ready to invest in excess of £100 million to secure him. The player in question is Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

The English international signed a new contract in November, extending his stay at Villa until 2031. But that does not seem to have had any effect on top clubs’ efforts to land the youngster.

In fact, TeamTalk have reported that Liverpool are among the clubs willing to test Villa’s resolve in retaining Morgan this summer with a £100 million plus bid.

Morgan is enjoying an impressive season at Villa under Unai Emery. The 23 year old has already scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 34 matches across all competitions.

Morgan has often been compared with Cristiano Ronaldo by fans due to some of his similar footballing abilities at such a young age. So needless to say, the player will not come cheap for Liverpool if they indeed plan on signing him.

Apart from his preferred attacking midfield role, the English youngster can also operate in the left wing position and as a centre forward. As a result, he could be a really good signing for the Reds.

Nevertheless, Chelsea have been known to be long time admirers of the player and could provide tough competition to Liverpool in the race for Morgan’s signature. Moreover, other top clubs are also keeping a watch on the situation and could add to the challenge. But for now, there’s nothing more than to wait and watch.
