It is fair to claim that Liverpool’s season so far has been a disaster. They had exceeded all expectations by winning the Premier League in Arne Slot’s debut campaign. And after the club spent north of £400 million in the summer transfer window, many were predicting that we were entering an era of dominance for the Anfield side in the Premier League.
Reality has proven to be quite a bit different. In fact, it looks like Liverpool could end up missing on Champions League spots if their form does not improve drastically over the last few months of the season.
To be fair, they do deserve credit for finishing third in the group phase of the Champions League, something that was unexpected considering how inconsistent they have been in domestic competitions.
Naturally, the next summer transfer window could involve further change for the Reds. And it looks like they are open to the idea of an international leaving, as he has struggled for consistent playing time since his arrival at Anfield, even though he was considered amongst the world’s best talents not too long ago.
Liverpool ready to let international leave for €30m fee
The player we are talking about is none other than Federico Chiesa. According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool’s asking price is around €25–30 million.
Back at EURO 2021, Chiesa had played an instrumental role in helping Italy win the tournament and it had looked like the Italian winger was on his way to becoming one of the best talents in world football.
Since then, things have not quite turned out as he would have hoped. There have been injury problems, which have not helped, and Cheisa has ended up losing his way.
Right now, he cannot even get into the Liverpool team and an exit seems to be on the cards. A return to Italy might be the best step for him, although other teams across Europe and beyond might still be interested in his mercurial talent.
