Liverpool’s problems don’t seem to end, as their poor run continued with their 3-0 loss against Manchester City on Sunday. They began the season on a winning streak, but they’ve struggled against stronger opposition in recent games, as they have lost seven games in ten across all competitions. The Reds are now eighth in both the Premier League and Champions League standings.
Liverpool spent north of £400 million in the summer, a record amount, bringing in players like Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and more, but it appears that Arne Slot has yet to fully integrate them into the team, with the majority of them failing to meet expectations.
The Reds appear to have made too many changes in a single window, disrupting the team’s stability, while the majority of their key players are not performing to their full potential. Despite that, recent reports suggest that they have already made a move to bring another player to Anfield.
Liverpool make £65m offer for Bournemouth star forward
Liverpool have reportedly made a bid to AFC Bournemouth for their in-form winger Antoine Semenyo. He is one of Europe’s most productive players right now, with 6 goals and 3 assists in 10 Premier League appearances this season.
Multiple Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur, have identified the 25-year-old as a transfer target and are keeping an eye on him.
According to journalist Indy Kaila, posting on X, Liverpool have presented an offer to Bournemouth for Semenyo for around £65m. The Cherries will release player if clause in the contract is met. He wants the Anfield move.
There is no doubt that Semenyo is a brilliant player and could prove to be a great addition to Slot’s roster. But it had felt the same after the club’s record breaking window this summer which seems to be failing as of now.
