Chelsea had to drag themselves to the final whistle against Lincoln City as they secured a 2-1 victory against the League One side after coming back from a one goal deficit at Sincil Bank.
The Blues were no match to the hosts as they failed to score a goal in the first half and conceded a goal in the 42nd minute before the break. Although in the second half Enzo Maresca’s men came back strongly as Tyrique George and Facundo Buonanotte scored two quick goals to take Chelsea into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
After spending around £282 million during the summer transfer window, Maresca brought quite the talent into the squad but their back to back defeats against Bayern Munich and struggling Manchester United has clearly pointed out that a lot of work needs to be done before this team can compete in the highest level.
With a supply line consisting of Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer and Alejandro Garnacho the only thing which is missing in the squad is a proper number nine who can put away the chances created by all of these talented youngsters and amidst all this Chelsea are all set to let go of one of their strikers.
Chelsea set to part ways with prolific striker next summer
As reported by Fabrizio Romano (via Bavarian Football Works), Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson is not in the club’s plans anymore and is unlikely to make any more appearances for the West London side as he was loaned out to Bayern Munich during the summer for the remainder of the season.
Bayern who paid an initial fee of around £14 million to sign Jackson on loan for the season and they will have to sign the striker permanently for more than £56 million if he starts more than 40 matches for the club this season. But as things stand Chelsea are adamant on not bringing the player back next season if Bayern decide not to keep him.
The 24-year-old scored 30 goals during his two seasons at Chelsea which is a fairly good stat for any striker around the world but the Blues’ decision of letting Jackson go with the given situation at the club might not be a convincing one for the fans as Maresca struggles to make things work at the club
