Chelsea have been battling with injury since the start of the season as players like Liam Delap and Levi Colwill will be out for quite some time. Even though Delap is expected to return before the end of this year but Colwill unfortunately won’t be available for the entire stretch of the season.
The 22-year-old defender got injured during their pre-season training after winning the Club World Cup and went through a successful surgery in August after that but as of now, Colwill won’t be able to play ball this season.
The Blues started the first three games of the Premier league in some style, conceding only one goal during those three games but after that it all went downhill for the West London side as they went three games without winning while conceding seven goals during this period and picked up a marginal victory against League one side Lincoln City in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Defence has been a major problem for the Blues till now but there could be some relief after all as youngster Josh Acheampong was seen training with the full squad in Cobham yesterday.
Chelsea fan favourite returns to training before Brighton game
The 19-year-old could not feature against Lincoln due to an illness which was really unfortunate for him as for any youngster, a Cup game is always their best chance to get minutes and show their worth to the manager.
With Chelsea’s current defensive woes, Acheampong’s return to fitness could see him feature in the upcoming games as he has been knocking on the door for some time now and had a fantastic outing during the Blues’ opening league game against Crystal Palace.
The player was seen training alongside teammates Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella, Reece James, Alejandro Garnacho, Romeo Lavia and Estevao Willian in the recent photos of uploaded by Chelsea’s official website which has seemingly excited the fans as one of their favourite players could just be available for the game against Brighton this afternoon.
